Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 22, 2026

Alma is a personal, non-commercial AI household assistant developed for private household use. This policy explains how Alma accesses, uses, stores and shares information, including data obtained from Google APIs.

1. Information Alma Accesses

When an authorized user connects a personal Google account, Alma may access:

Alma requests read-only Google permissions. It does not request permission to send, delete or modify Gmail messages or create, edit or delete Google Calendar events through this integration.

2. How Information Is Used

Google account information is used only to provide features requested by the authorized user, including:

Alma does not use Google user data for advertising, marketing profiles or sale to data brokers.

3. AI Processing and Data Sharing

Alma uses AI services to understand natural-language requests and, where applicable, produce summaries and answers.

Relevant, minimized information may be processed by a third-party AI model provider when needed to fulfill a user-requested feature. The integration applies access controls and sensitivity checks to limit which information is disclosed.

Google user data is not made available to unrelated household members or used for unrelated commercial purposes. Access by service providers is limited to what is needed to operate the requested functionality.

Alma's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs is governed by the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

4. Storage and Retention

Alma stores the OAuth credential needed to maintain the authorized connection in a restricted server-side credential file, along with the account binding and selected calendar identifiers.

The Google intelligence features process email and calendar content primarily for the duration of a request. They use short-lived in-memory caching for calendar information and temporary message identifiers for follow-up handling rather than maintaining a separate permanent archive of Google messages and events.

WhatsApp conversations, household records and operational logs may be retained separately as part of Alma's normal assistant functionality and operational controls.

5. Security and Access Control

Alma is designed to separate private user information from shared household information. Access to the connected personal Google account is restricted to the verified account owner's authorized private context.

Alma uses restricted credential-file permissions, account verification, read-only API scopes and application-level authorization checks. No system can guarantee absolute security.

6. Disconnecting Google and Deleting Access

The account owner can revoke Alma's Google access at any time through Google Account connections.

The account owner may also request removal of the locally stored Google credential from Alma. Disconnecting prevents further authorized Google API access through that credential. Requests concerning retained application data can be directed to the project contact below.

7. Intended Audience

Alma is a private household project and is not offered as a public commercial service. Google integrations are intended for explicitly authorized personal accounts and household-assistant functions.

8. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated when Alma's features, service providers or data practices change. The updated version and its revision date will be published on this page.
